    Icons are not shown correctly.

    Windows XP SP2

Installed Ubuntu 12.10 using VMWare Workstation.
But could not see the icons on the desktop. Is it with graphics card or some installations problem.
    The screen prints are attached.

    I want to use Terminal.

    Please advise.

I would bet it is installation. I have several Gnu/linux boxes running off a VM-farm right now. The way that makes it always work for me is to load the virtual CD's from the remote session. Only thing I had to play around with after that was getting the VM Tools installed.

Thanks for trying to help me out.

    So, I should install again?
I hope you saw the screenprints and I am clear about my question. and the problem is Home etc components are seen, but they are not on the desktop.
And, Terminal is not at all shown!
