Arrow What to do with extra DE when Upgrading Ubuntu ?

    hi all
since I'm about to upgrade from 11.10 to 12.04, can some one give me an advice on what to do with Gnome 3 and Mate installations? Should I remove these and re-install after I upgrade to 12.04 , or the upgrade will take care of eventually missing packages ?

11.10 and 12.04 use different versions of Gnome under the hood so I would definitely remove the desktops to ensure best results for the upgrade. 11.10 is based on Gnome 3.2 and 12.04 uses 3.4 so even your 3rd party themes will be incompatible if you have downloaded any.
