Gnome ALSA Mixer
I have Gnome ALSA mixer but I don't seem to have any volume controls apart from in the programme itself. Can this be fixed or is it just part of it?

Re: Gnome ALSA Mixer
What version of Ubuntu? What computer hardware? Normally, there is a speaker icon on the panel, and when you click it, a volume control appears.
Many keyboards also have volume up and down keys.
Most applications which produce sound also include a volume control.

I'm running Ubuntu 12.10 on a Dell Inspiron laptop. I have the keyboard controls, but am completely missing the speaker icons on the panel

Re: Gnome ALSA Mixer
Can you run Sound Settings and see what sound hardware has been chosen, if any?
Which Inspiron? Is it brand new? Do the volume control keys on the keyboard work?
Another thread suggested, "Click the panel and install Indicator Applet." It might mean, right-click on the panel. However, it was not a current post, so no guarantees.
