Tested Desktop with wired connection and i'm still getting 1.42MBPS...
It seems to be my ISP and or a physical problem in the buildings cabling.

Thanks for everyone that looked at this post and may have looked into my problem

    *#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#* END UPDATE *#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#

    PROBLEM:

I seem to be cap'd at 1.42 mbps on a wired connection while I have a 10 mbps connection ... Tech support says that everything is fine on their end and that I DO have a 10 mbps connection. Speedtest.net and Speedtest.bhn.net both say i have a max of 11.36 mbps connection.

I then switched from 12.04 to 12.10 to see if the problem was caused from any of the updates. I still have the same problem.

As i write this, I'm going to be testing my Custom built Linux desktop with a PCI NIC to see if i get the same problem.

Let's say i DON'T get the same problem.

what can be causing the problems?

I have switched off IPV6 when I was on 12.04 but that didnt help.

***Will edit this after I test desktop setup***

    Thanks in Advance.
