Sound not working in flash player

    Hi everyone,
I've recently installed Ubuntu 12.10 and everything was going great for a while.
I installed some security updates earlier today and restarted my computer. After rebooting it, I discovered that the sound is not working in flash player.
    Can someone help me out?
I've tried removing and reinstalling things, and nothing has worked so far.
    Help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,

    Harry

I suppose sound works for the rest of the system. Open a Flash video and go to sound settings(type "Sound" in the Dash) and in "Applications" tab see if "ALSA plug-in [plugin-container]" is not muted.

Apparently it's not muted. I've also just realised that this problem isn't limited to flash. A DVD I just tried playing has no sound also, although the sound for a drum machine program I have installed works perfectly fine.

My headphones and my computer built-in speakers both don't work, and there isn't any sort of sound when I do the sound test under sound settings.
