    Re: Persisting Ralink 5392 Wireless driver issues

    I wonder if this is actually a 64-bit issue. I have been researching this extensively and, so far, found several cases where the device works well either with the driver you compiled that froze your computer or with the default in-kernel rt2800pci driver; all in 32-bit. Are you willing to download and burn the 32-bit version and try it live ('Try Ubuntu') so we can see if your device works?

    I am continuing to search for the 64-bit XP Windows files. No luck so far.

    I honestly don't know the difference between the 2 (64 v 32 bit). I would not mind. The hardest part would be to remember how to do port forwarding.

    Let's have a look at:
    Code:
    sudo modprobe rt2800pci
    dmesg | grep rt2
    iwconfig
    Thanks.

    Code:
    jgomez2@SJ:~/Desktop$ sudo modprobe rt2800pci
    [sudo] password for jgomez2:
    jgomez2@SJ:~/Desktop$ dmesg | grep rt2
    [   12.728432] phy0 -> rt2800_init_eeprom: Error - Invalid RF chipset 0x5392 detected.
    [   12.728435] phy0 -> rt2x00lib_probe_dev: Error - Failed to allocate device.
    jgomez2@SJ:~/Desktop$ iwconfig
    lo        no wireless extensions.

    eth0      no wireless extensions.

    Should I perhaps try getting the other drivers again?

    One thing that resolved for me was:
    - After install Ubuntu 13.04 x86 on Dell Vostro 3500 I made all updates using a open wireless network;
    - Restart;
    - Applied this solution: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...2#post12625902
    - Restart again;
    Now I can connect with closed wireless network

    I suppose I may be confused. The subject of this thread is a Ralink 5392 card; however, the link you gave is for a Broadcom card. What am I missing?
