    Downloaded software not fully accessible

I downloaded software from the provider's website - Blender 2.63 3d graphics. Works fine..
But software-center and open-with functions don't know it is available on my system.

I downloaded from Blender because software-center still has the old 2.49.

How can I clue my system in to new software?

I would completely uninstall it, add the Blender PPA to your sources.list, update then install. Worked for me...
