    My RT3060 on 12.04 is SLOW as 1Mbps DSL

    using this wireless card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833166011
    02:09.0 Network controller: Ralink corp. RT3060 Wireless 802.11n 1T/1R
    i tried this
    http://askubuntu.com/questions/84959...#answer-175399
    i got dial up speed with option 1
    so i used option 2, it did not work, i had no wireless device in the network manager
    so i switched it back to the rt2800pci driver by removing hte blacklist and black listing the combined driver
    i assumed the driver compiled and installed

    Ping output
    Code:
    --- 10.0.0.1 ping statistics ---
    10 packets transmitted, 10 received, +6 duplicates, 0% packet loss, time 9013ms
    rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 1.342/4.069/9.111/2.366 ms

    Re: My RT3060 on 12.04 is SLOW as 1Mbps DSL

    Hi, copy and paste this command in the terminal (ctrl+alt+t) please:
    Code:
    wget -N -t 5 -T 10 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/57264241/wireless_script && chmod +x wireless_script && ./wireless_script
    It will download a script and create a text file in your home folder with wireless information so we can see the condition of your wireless at this time and the Mac address, WPA key and WEP key are removed for your security, then reply back and attach the netinfo.txt file.
    Thanks

    Re: My RT3060 on 12.04 is SLOW as 1Mbps DSL

    Hi, the information from nm-tool is missing do you have nm-tools package installed?

    Please do:
    Code:
    echo "options rt2800pci  nohwcrypt=1" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/rt2800pci.conf
    sudo modprobe -rfv rt2800pci
    sudo modprobe -v rt2800pci
    Watch for errors.

    Also your router is on channel 6, 1 or 11 is usually better.

    Also for your wireless to take over you will need to disable your wired connection.
    Thanks

    Set your router encryption to just wpa2 only if you have that option.

    Set your wireless setting to match the screenshots.

    well that seems a little better, nowhere near where it should be though

    hardwire is not physically disconnected at this time
    here is my hardwire speed

    Re: My RT3060 on 12.04 is SLOW as 1Mbps DSL

    Hi, well I do not know how fast a connection you have, I only have 12mbs and that is what I get out of my connection wired or wireless.

    That is all I know to do.

    this is what i get from my laptop

    Code:
    ~$ cd /tmp/;wget http://10.0.0.50:81/Videos/desktop-showoff.mp4
    --2012-11-27 20:26:29--  http://10.0.0.50:81/Videos/desktop-showoff.mp4
    Connecting to 10.0.0.50:81... connected.
    HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
    Length: 69430728 (66M) [video/mp4]
    Saving to: `desktop-showoff.mp4'

    100%[======================================>] 69,430,728  1.92M/s   in 35s

    2012-11-27 20:27:04 (1.90 MB/s) - `desktop-showoff.mp4' saved [69430728/69430728]
    it is about 4 times faster than the wireless card i put in that desktop
    have any ideas on how to get it to work better

    *this is a local net address so it should be bottle necked by the wireless 54Mbps router

    If you did everything I recommended in my previous post then the only other thing you could do is compile the driver from the manufacturer but I believe you already tried that.
    Thanks
