broadcom problems on dell precision m90

Hello, this is my first forum post, so yay me!

So, basically, I installed ubuntu 12.04 for the first time today. So far I like it. It's very refreshing from windows.

But there's a problem: Ubuntu doesn't properly configure my wifi adapter. I have a dell precision m90 and am currently tied into the router posting this.

I have been googling the problem for quite some time now. I have tried what other forum threads said would work, like uninstalling the broadcom drivers, then downloading them from the ubuntu software center, etc. I just can't get it to work.

I don't know much about terminal, but I know that it will be involved in the solution, so can you please clearly explain what to do in terminal?

    Any help will be appreciated!

Wait! I fixed it for now! I mixed quite a few methods together and wireless is working. I'll reboot and see if it still works.

I'm curious if this fixed your issue at hand. If so can you let us know what methods resolved the issue for you? Looking forward to your response...

When I use ndisgtk, it says the driver is installed and the hardware is present.

    Any help appreciated.

Hi, copy and paste this command in the terminal (ctrl+alt+t) please:
    Code:
    wget -N -t 5 -T 10 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/57264241/wireless_script && chmod +x wireless_script && ./wireless_script
It will download a script and create a text file in your home folder with wireless information so we can see the condition of your wireless at this time and the Mac address, WPA key and WEP key are removed for your security, then reply back and attach the netinfo.txt file.
    Thanks

I've tried a LOT of things, including this:
    11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) - 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal)

Open a Terminal and install the bcmwl-kernel-source package:
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install bcmwl-kernel-sourceNote: If you see the message "Module build for the currently running kernel was skipped since the kernel source for this kernel does not seem to be installed" then you are missing the appropriate generic linux-header package(s).

To test the driver (and remove the need for a computer restart) use:
sudo modprobe -r b43 ssb wl brcmfmac brcmsmac bcma sudo modprobe wlAllow several seconds for the network manager to scan for available networks before attempting a connection.
The bcmwl-kernel-source package should automatically blacklist the open source drivers so that the STA driver is the only one in use. However, some 11.10 users may have to manually blacklist the open source modules (please see the Known Issues section).
