How do I actually run MS Office once I have installed it under Wine?

    Hi all.
I messed up and killed my Windows and Ubuntu partition. I reinstalled Ubuntu only (12.10 I think) then installed wine then installed MS office 2003 Student and teacher edition. Everything fine so far.

But then I can't seem to actually start MSOffice or indeed "find it"

I start winecfg which brings up the wine panel and I tried to add MS Word Excel and Power point then I say Apply and OK but nothing happens...Maybe I am doing something very basic very wrong.

I had installed wine for my sister under Ubuntu 9. something and it was easy to use there, I am new to Ubunto 12.10 and not sure how to find stuff in it so maybe it's the most basic thing...please help...

Try installing it with PlayonLinux instead of wine.
OR you can always use the alternate Libre Office
    Hope it helps

You can run MSOffice like any other program from dash. Search for it in dash and, if you like, you can drag icons to Launcher. Playonlinux installs MSO quite easily.

If installed under wine, the programmes are available in Dash. Just type Word or Excel in Dash and you will be pointed to MS Office Word and Excel respectively.

IMHO installing it under PlayonLinux is easier and will give you Desktop Icons to launch the programmes from.

Either way when you have it running, you can pin the programme to the launcher for subsequent ease of access.

You should be aware that running MS Office apps in Wine always results in the the loss of SOME functionality.

In the case of Excel, the WineHQ website rates it Silver -- meaning that some stuff will work, while other stuff will not.
    Ubuntu 14.04, Mint 17; MS Win 8.1.
