    Lightbulb Linux Beginners Search Engine

    Hello,

I am an end user. In the beginning, I had a lot to search to work Ubuntu in the way I wanted. In an attempt to simplify search, I have just created Linux Beginners Search Engine.

It Searches forums and wiki of Ubuntu, Mint, Bodhi, Pinguy OS, Zorin OS, PC Linux OS, VirtualBox, Wine, LibreOffice, K3b, with refinements (labels / Filters). It also includes some blogs and websites providing tips and tricks

Clicking on Refinements searches urls only under that particular refinement, further filtering the search.

e.g. searching for 'Upgrade Kernel' and clicking on Refinment 'Ubuntu' will only search Ubuntu Forums, Ask Ubuntu, Ubuntu Help and Ubuntu wiki.

    It contains 47 urls.

Please give your thoughts / comments / feedback (positive or negative )

    Thanks

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that what this does?

    thanks.

A sort off, but was never aware.

There is also Ubuntu Search, which includes Ubuntu Forums, Ubuntu Ask plus some popular blogs (some of it are not active any more).

This search engine also includes other Ubuntu derivatives like mint, bodhi. zorin, pinguy. Some doubts are also explained in these forums.

It has refinements (i.e. filters, labels), on clicking you can filter for that particular distro. Since most of them, except PClinuxOS (which has info about e17) are ubuntu based, so their tips and tricks can be applied to each other.

I saw an excellent article on Desktop Environment and Window Managers on Mint Forums posted by Robin:

What is the difference between Debian, Fluxbox, XFCE, ...

I just hope, this saves search time, and is more topic specific.

For Tips and Tricks, I have added some blogs like ubuntugeek, omgubuntu, ubuntu vibes, etc.

What a wonderful idea! A search engine just for new users. And how wonderful to see a reference to one of my teacher's contributions. He had a gift for making things easy to understand.

I think possibly a blog by DixieDancer or XubuRoxMySox or 'Robin' I get confused as they (and Periheral Visionary) are writers of similar style and content. All are very pro Xubuntu, if that helps you narrow it down?
