i like your thinking still would you like a network of people under one banar (with there own websites and video) who do tutorials on anything but don't have to meet a bit like anonymous but not hacking and being all illegal and that...

I think this is a fine idea, but there are already a lot of great sites for this purpose - why re-invent the wheel.

Also, I checked out your site and I think it would be very confusing for new people to try to follow your instructions. Everything is jumbled together, there are no graphics, etc.. try to work a little more on the formatting.

Otherwise, if you decide to continue this project, best of luck - it would be nice to contribute something new to the world of HOWTO's but there are already 10,000,000 on how to install a Virtual Machine.

We used to have the Tutorials in the forum. But sometimes users stopped maintaining them and no one else could.

So we converted many tutorials to the wiki.
The wiki that will be home to these new creations will be the https://help.ubuntu.com/community not the https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ site
Continuing changes to Tutorials and Tips - please read
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1949027

And on VitualBox this page exists among others.
    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/VirtualBox
UEFI boot install & repair info - Regularly Updated :
    https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2147295
Please use Thread Tools above first post to change to [Solved] when/if answered completely.

Re: Linux tutorials a good idea?

I think mythic97 has good intentions and an "Ubuntu for dummies" might be possible but from my own experience, there is such a thing as "too much information" re millions of web sites that only contain snippets that don't really relate to anything.

If such a site were usable it would have to be hierarchical - i.e. basic "this is the exact syntax to do this task that you need" and underneath any extra detail to allow greater detail. However Linux has massive syntax detail and jargon and most people can only grasp a few concepts at a time without being overwhelmed. To illustrate, when we count objects we do so one by one, or in twos, or threes - few if any people can count in groups of 12! This is because we all have limited cognitive resource and when these limits are exceeded, learning concepts plummets down to zero. It is tempting for people fluent in a specialized subject to toss out excessive detail and assume the people, like robots, will assimilate it all at once - however we have biological constraints and these need to be accommodate. Another example is telephone numbers - people seldom remember a massive long string - instead we "clump them" into groups them have a similar number of groups. This make memorization much easier.

In summary, I like the idea but I suspect the implementation will be problematic - perhaps such a tutorial would need to be designed by a Psychologist? Designing a human-friendly tutorial may be a herculean task

I think http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki has already done the job.
