I have some videos on an SD card-not the actual video mp4 or whatever kind of file, but the data from the camera that hasn't been imported, compiled, whatever you wish to call it. How do I import those files onto Ubuntu in the correct format?

The main difference between Windows forums and the Ubuntu forums is that the Ubuntu forums has hundreds of questions and thousands of answers, but Windows forums just have hundreds of questions.
As for the OS X forums, I wouldn't know, I'm too poor.
bump?

You think that's air you're breathing now?
Well, that's the issue. For some reason, the files on the cd card are in a format not recognized as video, or at all. I works when I put it in the camera, but I cannot find the videos on the card from my computer. Furthermore, nautilus offers to import some pictures from it, but not the videos, which are what I want.

What camera were these videos taken with?
I haven't the faintest idea, and unfortunately, I no longer have access to the camera, only the sd card. Sorry...

Hah... well OK then, can you list all the files on the SD card?
Even just the manufacturer name would be useful.
Judging by the name of the folder containing pictures, it's a cannon.
at the root:
folders named DCIM, MISC, PRIVATE, SD_VIDEO, and a file named MODIFY.LOG
-within DCIM:
101CANNON
--within 101CANNON:
some jpg pictures.
-within MISC:
a file named EVENT.EVF
-within PRIVATE:
a folder named MY_MUSIC, but nothing's inside that.
-within SD_VIDEO:
folders named MGR_INFO, PRG001, PRG002... to PRG006
each of the PRG folders seem to be empty.
--within MRG_INFO:
files named MGR_DATA, PLST_MGR, and PRG_MGR.
*whew* I know that's confusing, but I couldn't think of a better way to list the directory tree. Please pardon my ineptness, and thanks for your patience.
