I agree, even though I don't even play WoW.

World of WarCraft is still the largest MMORPG out there but isn't it declining in terms of users?

Yes, but Blizzard noted that with the release of Mists of Pandaria the user base started to climb again (saw it in a BBC article a few weeks back; it seems like BBC really likes WoW).

It's not so much WoW being on Linux for fans of WoW, it would be Blizzard showing that they think Linux is enough of a viable platform that other gaming companies would just start to fall in line.

I also wonder how many users are just running WoW under wine and how many Windows/Mac users would be willing to switch to using it under Linux, apart from even thinking of any new customers.

Dang. I am so over WoW that I would be a bit dissapointed. It would be great for Linux overall but I think that bringing a top notch newer title to Linux would help just as much.

I guess if Blizzard was to port over games Diablo III and SC2 would also make sense (and make me happy).

I honestly can't see how it could be WoW, I mean Blizzard had a 100% working & up-to-date version of WoW for Linux and where in talks with LGP until Blizzard decided to cancel the project. So why the change of heart now all of a sudden.

They may be concerned about windows 8, or may have looked at data from people playing under WINE, or may be encouraged by Valve or any of a million other things.

If they ported over Starcraft 2 I would be immensely happy, one of the best RTS games to play online!

You actually Make a valid point weasel, now that you mention it Blizzard did voice there concerns regarding Windows 8.

What's funny about there situation, if it turns out to be accurate is the fact that they had one of the top Linux game developers working for them for years and now that he's gone, now they looking to port to Linux.

A lot of companies i bet will be seeing how Steam on Linux works out.

Considering 60,000+ people signed up to beta test it is just further evidence that Linux gamers exist and are willing to pay for games!
