unpacking a .rar file

hi folks im having trouble opening and running a .rar file

its a program made to run on windows machines

i have tried the unrar via command line and still no luck

it doesnt even give me the option to open and run under WINE software

any help would be great thanks

Install unrar from the Software Centre and try again.

Your .rar file should then open in Archive Manager.

when i search in the Ubuntu Software Centre for "unrar" the only software that comes back is "comix" a comic book viewer

There is a package called 'unrar-free'.

Rar program is available in multiverse repositories. Are you sure that you have multiverse enabled ? Check from Software Center => Edit => Software Sources.

Also (if I'm not wrong) rar included in ubuntu-restricted-extras. So alternatively you can search in Software Center for Ubuntu-Restricted-Extras.

Brilliant folks, i searched "unrar-free" and installed the "Unarchiver for .rar files (non-free version)" and it unpacked the .rar file
