get-iplayer fails on every download attempt

Hi there folks,

I've had a look for anyone asking this question and haven't found anything similar, apologies if my question has already been answered.

I'm using get-iplayer to record BBC TV and radio programmes (which, as a UK resident and licence fee payer, I'm allowed to do). Lately though, my downloads keep failing. The download always seems to fail once I've gotten around 20% of a programme.

I have tried to uninstall get_iplayer, rmtpdump and then re-install. Could any one highlight where I am going wrong please?

How do I update flvstreamer please? Is this the right file or should I be trying to update rmtpdump?

Hi
Looks as though you're using get_iplayer from PPA, that's good.
It uses RTMPDump instead of Flvstreamer.
Latest version is RTMPDump-v2.4. No need to update it.

For BBC local radio sometimes MPlayer is needed too.
So make sure it's installed...

sudo apt-get install mplayer

Then, same as before...

get_iplayer --type=radio --pid=p011d2td

(If you've a part-downloaded show, delete it first).

Many thanks ron999, I tried that and it said that I have the latest mplayer version. I have replicated the work using winduhs and all works fine - but sadly this is not what I would wish to do #relyuponwindows
It claims that the flvstreamer or rmtpdump file is corrupted but given my low level of knowledge with linux, I am at a loss on how to copy over it. I've tried as I said before with re-install but to no avail. Thank you sincerely for your help however.

Hi stobio, If you have any partially downloaded files, delete it and try it again as suggested by ron999.

Somehow, the resume download functionality does not work properly.
