I have a Mac Pro5,1 under 10.7 and am trying to boot from the latest Ubuntu 12.10 32-bit .iso. I burned it according to the instructions, rebooted my Mac, holding down the option key to boot from the DVD, then pressing F6.
Further instructions were to use the arrow keys to check nomodeset, press esc and select to Try Ubuntu. But when I press F6, I only get a menu choosing English as the language, and will allow no other selections or F keys. The only option seems to be Return/Enter, which takes me to a screen where I can select Try Ubuntu or Install Ubuntu, and several others. I've tried both Try and Install, but after that screen, the monitor tuns black.
So I'm completely stuck.
