Just a thanks to everyone here!

Seems, as a perennial casual user, all I do is seek help, (which I get in abundance here).

I have been playing around with trying multi-boot systems and deleting them and partitions, just for fun (I wasn't getting the full experience in VM's); changing grub scenarios and mounting scenarios, and got myself back to my nice singular running Ubuntu 10.04 OS, without a hitch this time.

The help here, (I was checking old threads, for directions), along with Ubuntu and community documentation, have really been helpful and saved the day, again for me.

    Thanks, everyone.

yep this is a happening place.

Something i started recently. I install my primary system to a thumb drive, add the apps i want , make the changes until i have exactly what i want. then i can do as i want on the hdd with impudence. if i bork it or what ever i can just clone the thumb drive system back to the hdd . 15-20 minutes and bobs your uncle.
The only dumb question is the one not asked.
