can't see tv with HDMI, ubuntu 12.10
I have looked at different posts for HDMI connections, and even tried to follow some. I can't figure out how to fix mine.
I have Ubuntu 12.10 installed on a Lenovo IdeaPad, I found my video card, but I don't know what to do with it.
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller
The first time I connected the TV to the computer, I could see my desktop working. After that, I only get to see pink and green stripes. From the computer, the display works like it is supposed to. But on the TV side, I can't get the right image... except for the first time that I plugged it in.
Would someone know what could've gone wrong between the first and second time that I connected the cable? And would someone have an idea on how to fix this?
If it helps, the TV is a 2005 Wide Screen not-HD Sony.
Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your suggestion, unfortunately I didn't find how this could help me. I already have a laptop, and I'm just trying to connect it to my TV.
