    Install GUI on Ubuntu 12.04 (Precise) Server

    Hi All,

    i need to install GUI on ubuntu 12.04 server, i found this link,
    but i dont know to install which want. i just need the GUI and remain all others server functions. What different between ubuntu-desktop, xubuntu-desktop, and kubuntu-desktop. Thanks.

    Those Ubuntu packages provide different GUIs.

    To my knowledge, ubuntu-desktop provides the Unity GUI, xubuntu-desktop the Xfce GUI, kubuntu-desktop the KDE GUI, etc.

    What are your specific needs in a GUI?

    thanks for your reply,

    i need the GUI, because i need to web login to connect to internet.
    basically i just need GUI for web browser only.

    A CLI browser should be fine for that. Have a look. There are a fair few of them.
