I get a corrupt file warning with this command.

    There's a PPA now.

Just installed Netflix Desktop on my 64-bit system. Same problem. Had to install Wine 1.4 before it would work. Unless I installed Wine, the Netflix Desktop config had no place to install Firefox.

    64 bit issue ?
    I am running 32 bit.
I had completely purged all wine and it installed ok.

You need to edit the /usr/bin/netflix-desktop file. Line 32 is checking the wrong variable. It should be ${MTABXATTR} NOT ${MTABEXT} It's a bug.

    Re: Netflix On Ubuntu

It's working on my netbook with no modifications but it's too choppy to be of any use

Checking it's system specs I just realized I accidentally installed 64 bit 12.10 instead of 32 bit 12.04 on it. haha, I'll have to fix that. Seems to be cpu bound, it does work nativly on windows, I'm guessing there's some wine slowdown.

I am running a 64bit and did not installed Wine 1.4 and it works. I also purged before installing the ppa, just like you did.

I installed it on my 64-bit machine with no issues. I'm wondering if you have to install a version of WINE once or it won't work (even if vanilla WINE isn't installed when running Netflix). I think I'll send Erich an email about it when I get home.

My netbook was a fresh, unused install of 12.10 64 bit, hot off the usb stick. All I did was add the ppa, install wine-compoholio+, netflix-desktop, then started it up and it worked. It's literally the first thing I did after doing the updates on a fresh install.
