Equivalent commands for 12.04 (Precise Pangolin) of older versions

    Hi.

There are at least 3 commands that work for Ubuntu but not for versions at least from 12.04 (Precise Pangolin). These could be called both from the Run Application dialog (Alt+F2) or from the terminals:
    alacarte : Main Menu
    gnome-keyboard-properties : Keyboard Preferences
    gnome-keybinding-properties : Keyboard Shortcuts

In 12.04, from the control panel, you have a Keyboard option where you can view and change more or less the same as with the last 2 commands in older versions. But, as the menu changed so much, I see nothing related to alacarte for v. 12.

Anyone knows equivalent commands of the 3 indicated for version 12?

    Thanks

    Hi!, vezolmi,

In both 12.04 & 12.10, entering 'alacarte' in the Dash, in a terminal, or in the Application dialog, all run the 'Main Menu' menu editing program - provided you have an operating GUI available.

However, as far as I recall, I had to install alacarte, as it is no longer included by default.

    Queries 2 & 3: Not a clue.

    Chao!, bogan.

2 & 3 - Click on the pruple screen icon in the upper right corner.
    Click "System Settings".
    Click "Keyboard".

You will see the two tabs called "Typing" and "Shortcuts".

This is correct and a dependency of alacarte is the Gnome panel for the Classic Gnome / fall-back session , so you may see another entry in the login screen.
