Ubuntu 12. 10 problems with Acer Aspire One 225-0802

Here are some of the problems that I have experienced with Ubuntu 12.10 on my Acer Aspire One 225-0802

1. When I close the lid, the system locks, but it does not go to sleep mode. The system continues to run as if it is active and almost overheat on me when I put it in my laptop bag.

2. The brightness setting does not work.

3. Touchpad doesn't work unless I trigger it on the log-in screen.

The third problem isn't too bad, but the first two have made me decide to go back to Windows 7, which is sad for I really like Ubuntu in general. Are there any known fixes for my specific model? I have looked up fixes for similar models but they simply do not work.
