    12.04 installer wiped existing partitions

So I went to install 12.04 on my PC yesterday. I had two NTFS partitions and 100+ gig of space at the end of the disk.

I am 99% sure I selected "install Ubuntu alongside of them" while installing ( https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Gr...tallation_type )

So naturally the installer deleted my old partitions and acted like the disk was 100% empty. Its not the end of the world... but pretty irritating.

How did this happen? Is there an install log I could look at somewhere?

I think this disk is using GPT partitions, could that have caused the problem?

Well I still don't know what caused the problem.

I was able to recover my NTFS partitions with the Ubuntu Rescue remix and the Testdisk program.
