unity launcher slow when screen minimised

hello, happy new years to all first of all. i had recently reinstalled ubuntu 12.04 and am using unity. i noticed that whem i have either chrome or firefox in the launcher unity runs really slow. so i took them out the launcher and start them via the apps menu now but the problem persists when i open chrome and then minimise it. ill move mouse over to the launcher bar and it takes about twenty seconds for it to respond. i do have compiz config installed and have read compiz doesnt play nice with unioty but am not sure what to do about it. i have a nvidia gt 240 and the drivers are activated. also have amd fx chip on a msi motherboard. if you need any more info just holla and ill post it. thank you in advance.

i also checked system monitor and there are about 12 instances that is involved with chrome under system processes. sounds like alot to me but im not sure tho.
