ASUS Computers Ubuntu works well on.

I figured maybe. since there is a forum dedicated to ASUS PCs we should announce ones they work well on and any problems you may have with them and solutions as they are found, edited into the original post to keep the thread clean. I'll start.

    ASUS G72GX laptop.

    WORKS GREAT

    Cons:
the disable touchpad feature doesn't work.
----- this can be "fixed" following this thread
    -----http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=10830417&postcount=11
-----You'll have to add your ACTUAL home folder in place of the ~ however.

    Asus EeePC 900 Netbook

    Works very well.

    Notes:

    • Touchpad is crazily sensitive to tap-to-click. One of the first things I do is to disable that feature.
    • Need to install backport modules in Lucid for the wireless to work properly.
    • Battery capacity indicator in Lucid is broken. It will indicate that the battery is almost ready to be discarded even when it's new. I disable that warning.
    • Slow to boot in Natty. I don't know if that's specific to the machine or something more general.
Please, people, remember to BACKUP before you install that new system. Same if you're upgrading.

Not sure if you want to know this as my machine is one I built myself but is ASUS mother boarded.

I run the full ATX ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO. It has the on-board ATI HD4200 grahics (just superb by the way) with sideport memory, dual core Althon X2 250 3GH processor and 4GB's Crucial ram. Western Digital 320GB HDD.

It runs 32bit and 64bit Linux Ubuntu 10.04LTS side by side faultlessly. Both versions are loaded with considerable software of every kind including first person shooter games.

    It's great!

AT3IONT-I dual core Atom motherboard. Works good except for the LAN port.

Yeah, I can get a USB LAN or a PCI-E LAN card, but I'm used to having a LAN work out of the box.

Tried both 10.04 & 11.04, no joy with either. Any ideas?

Desktop using asus m4a78t-e mobo, unlocked quadcore phenomII x 3 720 (stable, runs prime95 like boss), ati radeon hd 4870 1 gig, four gigs of mushkin ram, one terabyte seagate, standard dvd/cd

Desktop peripherals: type m (1994), decent/cheap logitech speakers and subwoofer, decent asus led monitor *(buying an led unit supporting 1080p soon).

Everything supported, works nice under ubuntu 10.10. Proprietary drivers do not work very well.

Asus 1215t "netbook": running ubuntu 10.10, ati 4200 *(?) gpu supported nicely, no problems with Nile platform.

AFAIK, ati radeon 4xxx series are supported pretty well out of the box (which wasn't the case roughly two years ago). I don't think ati 6xxx series are quite as well. Any news on 5xxx series?

asus k series laptops seem to work pretty well.
Asus X58 Sabertooth works well with Lucid. The marvel sata drivers havent worked with maveric or natty. but otherwise, works quite well.
