    hi all
    can sum1 plz explian what does this fol means??? a little bit in detail plz as i m new to it

    • tty are terminals
    • ttyS are serial ports
    • ttyUSB are, to my knowledge, devices for communication via USB (e.g. USB to serial converters)
    • never heard of ttyprintk, possibly syslog output via some port
    If you don't make backups of your important data, your data is obviously not important to you.

    So they're all low level I/O interfaces, no ordinary files in the windows sense. Don't worry, you won't need them.

    thnx for reply...it would be even more beneficial for me if sum1 can refer an article describing these terminals and I/O interfaces

    The discussion is small but it touches all the basics .

    BTW , to access a tty terminal the command is Ctrl+Alt+F1 - use it if you ever get your system hung . You'll have to log into it though .
