install problem 12.04 studio sudo unknown

My Dvd copy of 12.04 has worked on my machine before. A firmware download is required for the wireless drivers. Today the grub command line wont accept any sudo commands after reboot. I'm lost. Everytime I do an install there is some problem that wastes a whole day trying to understand what's going wrong. If I cant download the firmware am I wasting my time?

I'm not sure that the grub command line, which is similar to, but still very different from bash in your installation, will accept sudo commands.

What exactly is the command you are trying to use, when are you using it, and what do you expect it to do for you.?
