Greetings all,

A week or so ago I posted a query on this forum, the subject being how to capture iPlayer content legally in Ubuntu, But what I actually intended to ask: is there any way of legally recording iPlayer content in Ubuntu ? In other words: is it feasible - theoretically, technically, or both - to capture iPlayer content in the usual way - from the telly - and subsequently save the recording in another format for repeat viewing?

I'm aware that Freeview recorders are commercially available, but that's not what I mean. What I'd like to know is as to whether this can be done with some video capturing device, for instance (like in my case), video card, or in any other way - as long as it's legal and strictly Ubuntu (12.04 or DreamStudio 12.04) only is being used.

Your suggestions please.
