Hi,
I am attempting to install single boot Ubuntu on my 2008 macbook 4,1. Every DVD I have burned with disk utility (three 12.10's, 1 11.04, and 1 10.10) fails. I get a blank black screen and a flashing white dash after trying to boot from them. Nothing ubuntu related shows up before this crash.
The DVD's verify fine. The DVD works fine on my friend's Lenovo Thinkpad.
Previously the hd failed to partition and I wiped the HD and have been using an external backup (which I was going to keep anyway). I can't use refit because of this, but a. I want to do the single boot install and b. the drive does not need repair (according to disk utility).
Help?
