Question What Would it Take to Get SLi in Linux?

I Believe with the eminent release of Steam and Nvidia's recent improvements this question is relevant. If Ubuntu (and overall Linux) is to be a viable alternative to Windows for gaming I believe SLI needs to be supported.

And so, this got me thinking. What would it take? Is it an Nvidia thing? Or would it have to be written into the kernel? And either way, how can we as users make this happen?

I personally would pay for a kickstarter campaign or fundraiser etc, to raise funds to help the progress along. I would love to see SLI working in linux, wouldn't you? Please share your thoughts and ideas.

    it does work in Linux.

Get two GPUS the same with same memory and preferably same brand then connect them together.

Linux Kernel support has had it since 2.6.34 i believe

There are also plenty of threads pertaining to Ubuntu about it if you google http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1543387

Crossfire is ATI, no idea, look it up

As far as i know crossfire is supported, depends on card and driver i suspect

It just so happens that I just got a second 560Ti. Is it fully implemented? Do you know about performance?
