    Best new Ubuntu feature

I had been using Arch for a while, but installed 12.10 the other day and I am happy to see that there is finally a Linux distro that wakes my computer monitor up automatically when I move the mouse. Until now I had to turn the monitor off and then back on to get the display back after the computer went to sleep.

It may not sound impressive but I subscribe to the Zombieland school which says "enjoy the little things."

    The little things add up.
Keyboard sound functions all work in Ubuntu.
    Important things don't crash.
    Printer works. (not in Kubuntu)

Big turnoff about other Linux/*buntu varients.
    Feel they are incomplete.
Rather get work done than twiddle.

It is indeed the small things that keep me distro-hopping

I try them all but somehow Ubuntu is what I use on my work machines. Its just complete even though it has bugs, its after all made for humans by humans so thats part of the process.

    Re: Best new Ubuntu feature

I don't know if this is a 'new' feature, but as of one of the latest updates + finding a really good video on youtube...I can now do screencasting (video creation) on Ubuntu. That was one of the last hurdles I had to overcome before considering going 'full Ubuntu'...

Before I do that, I might just try a 30 day challenge with myself to see if I can handle leaving Windows. The only thing holding me back is that most people I'd be doing these video/instructionals for are Windows users so seeing me do things in Ubuntu might throw them off a bit. :/

Good opportunity for showing them that an alternative exists...
Did you choose your Buntu, or did you just stick to the first one you tried?
    Xubuntu Lubuntu Ubuntu Kubuntu

I have to use Windows videos quite often to demonstrate Gimp, Blender, Inkscape etc. Not much difference demonstrating on Ubuntu - I do that also.

I would now have to say the best feature on Ubuntu is Netflix, It works very good on my Desktop and laptop. I am now totally windows free.
