    Making individual value charts

    Hi all,

May be someone can help me out. I have searched several days for a way to do individual value plots. I have tables in gnumeric and libreoffice calc. The data has several columns with numerical values. I'd like all the values be presented as dots on the chart (columns a, b, c, etc. next to each other) and a line to indicate the mean for each column. How can I achieve this?

I'd like to achieve something like these google hits:

    http://tinyurl.com/bckh4dw

    or

    http://tinyurl.com/afg896d

The aim is to show variability behind the mean.

    Thanks in advance!

Although I'm not very good with it, and it definitely has a bit of a learning curve, it seems this is the job for an R script. Alternatively, although not free, JMP or Partek can make such plots. But, if you plan to this on a semi-routine basis, learning R would be very advantageous I think.
