Inspiron 6400 laptop wont connect to internet with ubuntu

I recently installed Ubuntu 12.10 onto my Inspiron 6400 laptop. It now won't connect to the internet with either ethernet or wireless. I tryed the fn+f2 but still doesn't turn wireless on. Also I plugged ethernet into it and it still wont connect to net. I am unsure of what to do at this point. Has anyone else seen this before?
