    Network traffic monitoring

    Hi,
is there any way to monitor each application network bandwidth usage ?
I've used gnome-system-monitor, but unfortunately it just show the total network activity.

I tried using nethogs but it gives the following message.
"ioctl failed while establishing local IP for selected device eth0. You may specify the device on the command line."

I am using a dsl connection on ubuntu 12.10 and the network interface is eth0.

    need help.
    thanks.

I just want to know what application is eating up my bandwidth....
