Is it safe to use Silverlight in WINE?

I'm using Xubuntu, and my browser is Firefox 16.0.2.

I need to install Silverlight to watch a special event, but the site were it's hosted doesn't use Flash, it uses Silverlight, anyway, I went to Linux's alternative, Moonlight (http://www.go-mono.com/moonlight/), but it doesn't support my Firefox verison.

So is it safe to use Silverlight in WINE, because based on my reading on this forum, it's possible for viruses to infect WINE and cause problems for my computer.

Is there a way to trick Silverlight sites to use Flash instead or is there a way to use Moonlight in Firefox 16.0.2? Because I don't want to downgrade, thanks.

The easiest option would be to downgrade FF to the latest compatible version with Moonlight.

Unfortunately, M$ does not offer too much of updates to us, Linux users.

Something similar if you were trying to use online streaming sites such as Netflix, Lovefilm and the like. They all ask for Silverlight >4.0, and the latest update of Moonlight is 3.99.

I just wonder if argonvegell would need to download and install Quicksilver rather than Moonlight to watch what they need.

Interesting, as everything I have read about Lovefilm and Netflix on 'linux' and 'wine' it just will not work. Can you advise your setup.
