    No sound online and no TV videos

    Hello,

    I have Ubuntu (Edubuntu 12.04). I have sound from my speakers when on my pc (desktop), but no sound while online. For example, I can watch videos on YouTube, but there is no sound. I cannot see videos (and have no sound) when trying to watch a TV show on it's home site, for example, no video and no sound when trying to watch the show Supernatural on the CW site. Am I missing a certain software or add-on? Also, when trying to download a particular add-on I have not been able to find a program to open it. I am not very savvy with computers.
