On Optimus laptops you cannot directly install nvidia drivers by either ppa or their website.

You pretty much have to use Bumblebee.

Remove all traces of nvidia to get back to your intel chip.

Install bumblebee and it pulls in nvidia properly for you.

Then use "optirun" to run stuff on the dedicated gpu.

Yes, I did that for weeks ago.
Trine 2 installed, and did not get 10 FPS.
So I think it is not working.

Try it again and post what happens when you run it in terminal using the optirun command.

    Here the log: https://gist.github.com/4060639

Now, using primusrun, I can play, but Trine 2 is running very slowly (10 ~ 15FPS is the max).
This game is really so heavy for so GT540M 2gb?

Works flawlessly though I am not beta tester. I played World of Goo for hours.

A decent handfull of games work from the humble bundles. Amnesia ran pig slow for some reason.

    Source.

Very interesting as it is a unique advantage that gaming on Ubuntu, and Linux in general, has over gaming on Windows. What do you guys think?
