Just in case anyone is still having problems with this issue as I recently did (see post #2 on this thread), it can be easily fixed with vasi's solution from this link: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/ste...inux/issues/36

Does anyone have any free invites they can give me? Plz?
Just PM me plz if you have one. Thanks
Actually, I don't think you need an invite anymore. You can get the beta client by following the instructions here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valve .
Cheers!
Mr. Hibba
Yup, or you could go to Steam's site and install that way. They bring up a .deb file you can right click and use to install the client [top right, click "install"].

Half Life 1 is coming to Linux!

I haven't played Half Life, but I hear it is very popular. If that is true, then this is a good sign. We might be getting more and more high end games soon. And I'm happy for Counter Strike release—I love that game! I'll wait a while into the Steam Linux Client life before I start buying games though *unless Elder Scrolls is released*, because I don't know how this whole thing could turn out.
