"Many schools are implementing ICT integration projects", writes Michel Damay, Claroline's community manager, in his introduction to the survey. "We wish to know what is the potential in this area."

The survey, totalling 12 questions, is intended for those working in primary and secondary schools and in special education. The questions aim to gather "documents, media, resources, questions and thoughts", comments Damay. "It is a small diagnostic service for the educational community."

The survey complements a series of interviews with some forty school principles in the French speaking part of Belgium.

Development of Claroline started in 2000, at the Catholic University of Louvain, in Belgium. It is now jointly developed by a consortium of universities in Belgium, Spain, Canada and Chili.

The most recent version, 1.11.4, of Claroline was unveiled on 18 October. The Claroline software is hosted on Sourceforge, and available under the GPL.
