    Nvidia driver

I have a Acer Extensa 5635G with a Nvidia G105M graphics card. It's a two year old laptop and I've never had any problems with the graphic drivers until Ubuntu 12.10.

Basically, on a clean Ubuntu/Kubuntu 12.10 install I run the update manager, restart the operating system and the proceed with installing the proprietary drivers. I end up with the screen as it is in the attached picture. Same result with all the drivers (nvidia-current, nvidia-current-updates and the experimental one). I even compiled the latest driver from Nvidia's website but no improvement.

As a result I did I fresh install of Kubuntu 12.04 (install, update, restart, install driver). Surprisingly, the same thing happens now on 12.04 with nvidia-current-updates but not with nvidia-current.

Messing around with the Nvidia's settings manager didn't help.

    What can I do?

    Thanks.
