Welcome to the Ubuntu forums.
The easiest way to work with Grub is probably to install and use the GUI app "Grub Customizer". It allows you to tweak/change many of the Grub options.

Strong +1 for Grub-customizer. I read in another thread that it wasn't available for 12.10 -- but I've installed it, used it, and it appears to work just fine!
