Windows 8 causing (k)ubnutu not to boot

    Hi,

Today i have been trying to install kubuntu and it will refuse to boot.

I will boot from cd, it will go thru stuff that it would normally go through. Then it comes to this and i press enter:

    Boot From CD/DVD:

Then nothing happens. No screen, it will hang there.

I remember hearing that windows 8 will cause ubuntu (Linux in general) Not to boot. I am using Windows 8 Enterprise RTM from Microsoft-Developer-Network.

I didn't catch which version of Kubuntu, but if it's 12.10 -- you need to know that your video chipset is NO LONGER supported in 12.10. You will have to use the default open-source Radeon driver -- which probably will work. But, that is the only driver available now in 12.10 for chipsets older than HD 5xxx.
    Ubuntu 14.04, Mint 17; MS Win 8.1.
Will not respond to PM requests for support -- use the forums.

Is it a new system with locked BIOS or Secure Boot on in UEFI?

Is download verified and CD written ok? I use flash drives now just so I do not burn so many CDS.

Also instructions for CD or USB

Write image or burn image not copy ISO as one large file to CD.
