Same as yesterday, open the Dash by pressing the Super key (windows) and search for Software Sources.

thanks, knew where that was, just wasn't sure if there was another place under administrator......

is it normal for software sources to be very slow in opening?

Under the "old" menu hierarchy that is indeed where you would have found it.

Unfortunately, it seems to be. It is sluggish on this i7 processor. Guess it is checking for hardware before loading, wasn't slow until the addition of the Additional Drivers tab in 12.10.

You should try going to System Settings>Software Sources and looking at the Additional Drivers tab.
It is a machine. It is more stupid than we are. It will not stop us from doing stupid things.
