I don't know what changed, during my morning upgrade(s), but CPU usage fell through the floor. It's been motorboating in the single-digit range, ever since I rebooted. Highly unusual for Unity!!! Example: I took these screenshots a few minutes ago, for use in a different thread. Check out the CPU ("Processors") usage in Conky... System Monitor, which usually drives my CPU crazy (second screenshot), is idling merrily along. Plus, GiMP is running in the background -- another heavy hitter. Single-digit CPU usage -- seriously?!?!? Am I still asleep, and dreaming? Heh! I've always L-O-V-E-D pre-alpha! It's my favorite time(s) of year! Anyway, it seems like I read that 'they' were going to work at lowering power consumption in UbuRR, e.g. improve battery time. Could this be what's at play -- or just a fluke?

o.O let's hope it will stay like that, however Alpha versions are usually lighter than final releases >
I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT A QUANTAL QUETZAL IS...BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE PRETZEL AND I LIKE PRETZEL
On this Dual Core it will load balance to zero. I seen this with quantal alpha2.
That's correct, the cpu usage is between 0-8%, rarely jumping to 11%
