    Exclamation Unable to use Ubuntu.

    Hello, I had issues with Ubuntu crashing on me before which involved me unable to type anything or click on any icons etc.

    This issue randomly disappeared a while ago, and this morning, I attempted to log back on to Ubuntu so I could complete some work.

    The Log in screen took slightly longer to load up than normal, and I was able to Log in to my account. After I logged on, I was unable to use my internal mouse or internal keyboard. An external mouse worked through a USB port but I was unable to interfere with any icons etc, only able to move my mouse. An external keyboard didn't allow me to type at all.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi ! TheMophead;

    As the condition is "intermittent" ??? -> three things off the top of my head.

    laptop ? is it over heating ?
    memory bad ? -> check it with the memtest utility from the grub menu.
    log files /var/log/ directory...anything suspicious ???

    1) Over Heating.

    My laptop has overheated in the past, however it is generally Hot, even as I'm writing this under Windows, with only Firefox running, my laptop is still Hot.

    2) I'll do a memory test and let you know the results.

    3) How can I access my /var/log/ Directory? Is there a way to do it under Windows as I can't operate Ubuntu after logging in.

    For those who are experiencing the same situation as me, I just decided to format Ubuntu and re-install it as a fresh copy. Everything is working fine now.

    Re: Unable to use Ubuntu.

    That is a drastic solution...but a solution never-the-less and perhaps the best solution in this case ...
