Partitioning help - Dell Inspiron 1525

As stated in the title, I have a Dell Inspiron 1525. Specs are an Intel 1.8 GHz Dual-core, 2 gigs DDR2 RAM, shipped with Vista (currently running 7), and a 160 gig hdd. I have three partitions right now. I have an OEM partition, C, and a recovery partition from vista. I deleted the Mediadirect partition because I never used it and it had problems. I could delete the vista recovery partition if necessary, i have the recovery disc for vista anyway if i ever need it. My question is what kind of partition setup do I want right now, and how exactly would I set it up? I know I can only have 4 primary partitions, but I just want to run Ubuntu or Mint alongside 7 without installing it in Windows.

Just make your last partition a "extended partition" and you can turn it into as many partitions as you want (within the extended partition).
