    Re: 12.10 x64 - Lenovo E420s - RTL8188CE - Slow/Unstable Connection

    Hey Kurt,

Thanks for all the help sir!
Not sure how to explain this one but now everything works. The only I did was give my laptop to my friend and all he did was literally:
    Code:
    modprobe rtl8192ce
    iwconfig wlan0
He was just trying to load it for trouble shooting purposes but it took. As soon as he hit enter on iwconfig, it connected.

I removed the module from the blacklist and everything works through reboots.
Not really sure how to explain this one, but I'm guessing I should just take it as a win.

Again, thanks for the help. Really diggin' the support here

I tried blacklisting the module, rebooting, then installing the Realtek driver, then rebooting again. However, this time the wifi card does not come up at all. Also, when i run lspci -nnk | grep -iA2, it shows that the rtl8192ce driver is still in use.

Here is the output of lspci -nnk | grep -iA2

    Code:
03:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter [10ec:8176] (rev 01)
Subsystem: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Device [10ec:8195]
    	Kernel driver in use: rtl8192ce
I was able to get the card online by loading the module. After that, I did notice that the card would connect but just briefly before disconnecting:

    Code:
    wlan0 IEEE 802.11bgn ESSID:"sl-private"
              Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: D8:C7:C8:94:EE:B1
              Bit Rate=18 Mb/s Tx-Power=20 dBm
              Retry long limit:7 RTS thr=2347 B Fragment thr:off
              Encryption key:off
              Power Management:off
              Link Quality=57/70 Signal level=-53 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
              Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:7 Missed beacon:0
    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!
From where did you get the realtek drivers? They are not available for kernel 3.5 from the realtek site

I tried the same thing, but I get the below error when i try to modprobe
    Code:
    root@venki-ws003:/home/venkatesh/Downloads/rtl_92ce_92se_92de_8723ae_linux_mac80211_0007.0809.2012# modprobe rtl8192ce
FATAL: Error inserting rtl8192ce (/lib/modules/3.5.0-21-generic/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/rtlwifi/rtl8192ce/rtl8192ce.ko): Invalid argument
I installed the driver 92ce_linux_mac80211_0007.0809.2012.tar.gz from the realtek website, I am running ubuntu 12.10. Now my wireless card is not even detected.
