    So, there you have it:
    > It seems to be a packaging problem

It is not. This is an i386 package; you must have multiarch enabled to install it. Multiarch is enabled by default on all 64-bit installs of Ubuntu 11.10 and later.
Any ideas why the OP wouldn't have multiarch enabled?

    Code:
    sudo dpgk --add-architecture i386

Then you can install skype with

    Code:
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install skpe
    Hope that helps.
    1st one:

    sudo dpgk --add-architecture i386
    sudo: dpgk: command not found

    2nd one:

    sudo touch > /etc/dpkg/dpkg.cfg.d/multiarch
    bash: /etc/dpkg/dpkg.cfg.d/multiarch: Permission denied

    Any advice?

Re: Skype Help | Ubuntu 12.10

I'm having the same problem as AleksOne regarding Skype installation. I too have tried all the suggestions in this thread, but it's still not working. If anyone does find a solution to this, please PM me!~

    Individually.

Skype would not relaunch after reboot on Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal until I updated the installation via Synaptic, then Skype bin loaded and everything was fine.
