Bluetooth headphones not recognized in Phonon

Bluetooth headphones/microphone are a great thing, but getting them to work under KDE can be troublesome. I've had identical problems in Kubuntu 12.04, 12.10 and Linux Mint KDE 13. On the other hand, no problems whatsoever in Ubuntu 12.04 with Unity.

I've tried two different headsets, the Motorola S10HD and the Motorola S305, with the same results.

Pairing the headset with bluetooth presents no problems. After pairing I select the bluetooth headset as the preferred device in System Settings / Multimedia / Phonon and I'm able to use them to listen to music and talk through Skype.

The problem starts when turning the headset off and on again. Bluetooth pairing works, but Phonon now completely ignores the headset, and of course I'm no longer able to use them.

I guess going through the pairing procedure from scratch might work, but haven't tried it so far.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
